Steve and Chakra met in Aceh during a time of violent conflict between the Free Aceh Movement (GAM) and the Indonesian government. They were sent to help local villages in poverty and disaster zones rebuild after the 2004 tsunami. Our field leaders go to the most difficult areas on this troubled planet — places where most people would not dare go. Steve Cran is a Permaculture Aid veteran, teacher, social activist, climate change resilience specialist and a very handy guy to have around after a natural disaster. With a 35-year career in Permaculture, Steve has developed effective and sustainable recovery solutions for communities affected by natural disasters, war, or long-term poverty.
