Are you ready to connect with the land, immerse yourself in community and sink your roots into the sands of island culture?
The Permaculture Retreat at Island Vibe Festival gives a small group of participants a unique opportunity to walk with local permaculturists and traditional custodians to explore the story of food sovereignty on the island; what was, what is, and what can be.
A synchronistic collaboration between Island Vibe Festival, Grounded Permaculture Action Party Inc, Pacific Earth School and Straddie Adventures the five-day program will cover:
– Permaculture Introduction
– Reading Landscapes and Listening to Country
– Urban Farm Action Tour of the Island
– Immersive Quandamooka Kulcha Experience
– Daily Mindful Movement Meditation

The retreat will run from lunch-time Sun 24th to the afternoon of Thur 28th October just before the festival starts, with all meals and camping accommodation included.
This retreat is curated and hosted by Billa Lauiti-Kolkr of the Pacific Earth School who has spent the last few years on the island working with residents to develop urban farm production systems and aligned closely with First Nation Quandamooka Sovereign, Mark Jones (of Straddie Adventures). Participants will spend two nights camping on the festival site, and then two nights out on country at Mark’s bush camp.
The registration fee is for the retreat only. If you wish to attend the festival you must organise a ticket and accommodation for the weekend.
Participants of the Permaculture Retreat are eligible for a discounted 4-day Island Vibe ticket priced at $150. Participants will be sent a discount code to access this ticket through the Island Vibe ticketing system. Alternatively, participants have first preference to be a volunteer on one of the Grounded teams during the event. Email us to find out more about this option.
