    Hi

Moveing over some of the early posts from the PA Communicators groups and found this:

What do you think of this? Will it help create a grand narrative for PA to communicate about permaculture? What do you think?

Here is a comment moved over from Richard…

Very well produced. If you are talking about look and feel, I like it. I find the mesage a little unclear.

I was hoping to do something similar with ’the permaculture song’. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYIBYQY-h1Q but it didn’t get very far. I did find someone who was willing to help with the skill…[Read more]

    Hi

You will notice when you come and visit the Permaculture Australia website there is a change. When you login now, you will be directed to your ’profile’ page which is like visiting your facebook page.

When you hit the home page in the navigation bar you will go back to your ’profile’ There is a button now in the side bar that will take yo…[Read more]

Hi everyone and thanks to whoever sent me an invite to the group. I am presuming it was Ian. I don’t think I would have found it otherwise, despite best intentions… I do think the PRI Global site is good for locating other permies nearby and it is useful to have your details up there. Fundamentally, there will never just be one place for…[Read more]

so glad I could finally break the code and gain access. I do like the concept of communications discussion though the issue of accessibility is a worry. It is probably necessary to stop intervention from terrorists.
On Michele’s comment on being able to place where people are – a great idea and one that Craig at PRI could help with. Is any one…[Read more]

      Hi Mark
thanks for joining. I do use the ‘global’ map you are referring to. Perhaps it meets the needs for all users and we dont need a second map? {as with Google earth} What do others think? Ian

      • Michele Margolis 3 years, 8 months ago

        Hi Ian,

What global map is that? Be good if one could happen on PA. It would be good to see all related local groups included equally and be able to click on a link to communicate directly with them. So many things are going on everywhere and people just don’t know what’s in the next street so go flying off somewhere to do something that’s 2…[Read more]

this is where the Global map is – http://permacultureglobal.com/projects

It is not very comprehensive {yet} – in the nature of digital stuff these days it has to be ‘built’ by us – the people doing it on the ground, like ‘crowd funding’ – this is ‘crowd mapping’. So the main groups in Vic, for example, are not listed as they haven’t put…[Read more]

      Hi Mark…
Not sure what “break the code” means… did you experience some difficulty? Also “access is a worry”?

My understanding is that this social networking software doesn’t have mapping capability and that to do that would require setting up a linked subsite. There’s no need for Craig or Geoff to help because others know the tech.

      I think…[Read more]

        Hi Russ,
I have listed the existing ‘map’ in my reply to Michele in this thread.
As I said there I think that PRI / “global” map has potential for us to link to; but we need to put our selves and our projects on there, and ‘invest’ some time in learning how to do that.

Hi Everyone, Its been a mammoth effort for me to actually be able to login here and finally get to this group. Some of you know that its not because I am not tech savvy – so I hope that others dont encounter the same issues as it will be a huge barrier to engagement.

      • Richard Telford 3 years, 8 months ago

Hi Celeste, I’m just wondering if you can elaborate on the issues that you had. Is there some way that the process can be made easier for people? Any suggestions?
Did you read the notes at the top of the screen on how to use the social network?

        • PA admin 3 years, 8 months ago

From my understanding, Celeste joined off line which required someone to notice she had paid offline then notify me to upload her details manually.

We have been making tweaks to the website as people notice issues, so hopefully the page about joining by direct debit or by cheque now encourages people to fill out the membership form on the page…[Read more]

          Hi Richard and Fiona
The issue after getting a username and a password was that none of them that were sent to me worked. After realising this is a wordpress site and that it should recognise my email address, I did a password forget cycle and got in and now things are OK. There was another issue with the use of capitals in my name – it looks…[Read more]

Thanks for letting us know. Yes, it looks like it only accepts lower case usernames – will go and check the database to make sure that is clear to people. Glad you are in now.

    This is a new group.
I\’ll start by adding some notes from a recent discussion on the Oceania list. Given that quite a few people there expressed concern that Oceania was not as good as this site, we are going to give it a go here. Welcome 🙂
