VolunteerOverseas2Red Cross is seeking a Permaculture Officer and two Horticulture Officers to support our work in Africa, and I was hoping for your advice in this matter.

These assignments are part of the Australian Volunteers for International Development program, an Australian Government-AusAID initiative. Brief details:

Permaculture Officer: Uganda

Help subsistence farmers in a beautiful Ugandan village to set up greenhouse gardens, using permaculture techniques to ensure a sustainable, organic and community-owned food supply.

Horticulture & Food Security Officer: Botswana

Work with Red Cross on a food security strategy to help communities reduce their reliance on rain cycles. You will explore the use of greenhouses and other agro-technologies to support sustainable food production.

Horticulture Officer: Kenya

Interested in sustainable food production and community gardening? Then head to Kenya to work on a greenhouse program that will improve food security. You will train Red Cross volunteers in basic horticulture, establish crop cycles and trial organic gardening methods.

While they are volunteer roles, we do cover travel, accommodation and living costs, as well as health and security support.
